Industrial sites need to keep all equipment in working order to ensure smooth operations. Unfortunately, though, many industrial environments also have conditions that cause equipment to deteriorate without proper maintenance. Dry ice blasting is one of the fastest and most effective methods for cleaning your industrial equipment.
Our dry ice blasting services provide cleaning and product finishing that sand and water cannot provide. Dry ice blasting is the process of sending dry ice (solid CO2) particles through a blast hose that penetrates and removes contaminants on virtually all surfaces. The CO2 dissipates into a gas after impact. It offers several benefits over other cleaning methods:
No hazardous waste and no water reclamation, making it more environmentally friendly than other cleaning methods
No additional costs to dispose of cleaning byproducts or hazardous waste
Dry ice blasting does not leave behind glass, shells, or other materials that you must clean up. Carbon dioxide (CO2) can safely be used for several different industrial applications, including:
If you’ve never seen dry ice blasting in action, you’re not alone. Here’s a visual look at how the process works. We use a nozzle connected to a dry ice storage tank. Small pellets of dry ice are forced out with compressed air and hit the surface being cleaned. The force of the pellets expels dirt and buildup, leaving behind a beautiful, clean surface. Only a small section of the outer surface gets cold, while the remainder of the equipment gets slightly cool or has no temperature change at all.
Here’s a closer look at what those tiny dry ice pellets as they come out of the nozzle.
If you’re still not convinced, here are some before and after pictures of a large steel tank that we cleaned using dry ice blasting. It quickly removed significant built-up dirt on the tank exterior and left behind no messy residue.
